Urology Week is an initiative of the European Association of Urology (EAU) which brings together urology practitioners, nurses, and patient groups to bring awareness of urological conditions among the general public.
There are 3 main topics by the European Association of Urology is focused on prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and kidney cancer.
As a patient, no-one understands the problems and the battle with the disease first hand than the patient himself. Through sharing, the public can better understand what prostate cancer is, its symptons, its treatment, its side effects, and cure rates. The public can gain a better understanding of the cancer’s conditions, and in turn help to support patients with the prostate cancer, letting them know that they are not alone!
Fannypants is creating awareness during urology week by bringing attention to the number of people who suffer from urological diseases in the United States. According to The American Urology Association, whose mission is to advance urological research and to improve patients’ lives through education, treatment for urological diseases cost the American public nearly $ 40 billion exclusive of medication costs. According to the National Institutes of Health, BPH affects more than 50 percent of men over age 60 and as many as 90 percent of men over age 70. One in 2 women will experience incontinence in their lifetime. Prostate cancer affects one in five African American men. Worldwide, urinary incontinence affects 400 million people.
